Why join the TTOS?

Getting a fair reward for your efforts and having the best possible working conditions are what the T.T.O.S. strives for its membership. 

We work hard to keep the industry rates strong and that means giving you the best chance to operate your business successfully.

A fair and equitable Hiring Rate means the industry knows what it will cost and that provides surety and stability for both us, the operators, and also the contractors who need our services.  Obviously then the Hiring Rates aren't just pulled out of a hat but determined by negotiation with regard to the actual cost of operating.  It's in the best interests of the T.T.O.S. and it's members to get those rates to a level where we don't go out backwards individually, but still have them set where competition amongst ourselves is minimised.  Under-cutting doesn't do anyone any favours and simply grinds the whole industry down to where earning a living is not possible.  And that means no trucks, no work.

Another service the T.T.O.S. provides is in helping you to get paid.  A contractor who holds up payments because they either choose to or cannot manage their own business is not your problem.  You provide the service so you expect to get paid for it.  Non-TTOS members can get in all sorts of trouble because as individuals they do not have the power to enforce payment whereas T.T.O.S. members have the strength of the T.T.O.S. behind them.  And that means you can sleep a lot easier!

What if you are just starting up?  There's a lot of tricks and traps that you probably are not aware of but all the T.T.O.S. members have a lot of experience and they are happy to share it with other members.  The T.T.O.S. can help you grow your business as you help the T.T.O.S. grow.

We have regular meetings to discuss the industry and what it means to the T.T.O.S. and you, the members.  It's about keeping up-to-date and in front of the competition - you know, those guys that choose to go it alone.
